Langley, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack women’s volleyball team ended the West Coast Classic tournament on a tough note.
The WolfPack played their final round robin match Sunday (Oct 4) morning at the Langley Events Centre and lost to the Trinity Western University Spartans. The scores were 25-16 ,25-17,25-15.
TRU finished the three day tournament with a record of 1-3.
“It was a disappointing way to end the tournament,” said WolfPack head coach Chad Grimm. “We struggled to control our emotions and it affected all facets of our game, especially the serve/receive and our play away from the ball.”
TRU was led by Iuliia Pakhomenko (4th year, outside hitter, Donetsk, Ukraine) with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Katie Woo (4th year, setter, Surrey, BC) had 20 assists.
Kaitlin Lomas (3rd year, middle, Ponoka, AB) had three blocks.
The WolfPack finished the preseason with two wins and six defeats. They now gear up for the opening of their 2015-16 Canada West season on Friday October 16 th. They visit the Pandas at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. TRU’s home opener is Friday October 23 rd at the Tournament Capital Centre as they entertain the MacEwan University Griffins. Game time is 6 pm.
