Duncan, BCThe Cowichan Capitals have acquired 1996-born defenceman Carter Cochrane from the Chilliwack Chiefs in exchange for 18 year-old forward Darien Craighead.

Putting up an impressive 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points in 55 games as a rookie two years ago with the Chiefs, the Kamloops native made his return to the BCHL this season after spending last year in the WHL split between the Everett Silvertips and the Tri-City Americans where he put up four points in 40 games.

“Carter is a gritty, hardnosed competitor that also brings offence to our blue line,” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Bob Beatty.

“He had a very impressive rookie season in Chilliwack and with his added experience is a solid addition to our club.”

At 5’11” and 190 pounds, Cochrane plays much bigger than his frame and will add veteran experience at both ends of the ice.

The Capitals thank Darien Craighead for all his contributions over the past year and wish him well in Chilliwack.  The team also warmly welcomes Carter to the Cowichan Valley.
