Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Community Foundation will have an extra incentive to cheer on the Prince George Cougars this year thanks to a new fundraising partnership announced today by the hockey club and the local accounting and business consulting firm MNP.

With the Cougars’ regular season now underway, MNP has launched the firm’s ‘Score for the Community’ program in Prince George. For every goal the Cougars score at home during the regular season, MNP is donating $10 to the Prince George Community Foundation.

“It’s great to be able to partner with the Cougars on a promotion that rewards the team’s success and supports the community at the same time,” said Rod Quiring, a local Partner in MNP’s Prince George office. “MNP is still new to Prince George, having just opened our office in January, but our local team members have lived here for years and we wanted to find a way to give back. In addition to raising money, we’re hoping the goal program also helps to raise awareness of the important role that the PG Community Foundation plays in our community.”

Founded in 1995, the PGCF facilitates philanthropy by partnering with donors to build permanent endowment funds that support community projects. Using investment income generated by the endowment funds, the Foundation allocates grants to a wide variety of charitable organizations that enhance the quality of life in Prince George in areas such as health, sports, recreation, arts, culture, social services and the environment.

“The PGCF would like to thank MNP and the Prince George Cougars for their support with the announcement of the Score for the Community program,” said Brenda Langlois, Executive Director for the Foundation. “We look forward to an exciting and successful season by the Cougars as they strive to reach their goals”.

“The Cougars are proud to team up with MNP and the Score for the Community fundraising program,” added Andy Beesley, PG Cougars Vice President – Business. “We feel our hockey team is positioned to be a major positive force in our community, and this is another great example of us working side by side with other businesses like MNP who feel the same way about contributing to our community in such a tangible and helpful manner.”

All of the money raised through the promotion will be donated to the MNP Community Fund, which supports the ongoing operating costs of the Foundation.
