BELLINGHAM, Washington – Trinity Western’s Declan White (South Surrey, B.C.) turned in his most impressive performance of the 2015 cross country season as the third-year Spartan finished second at the Western Washington Classic Saturday at East Lake Padden Park.

White, who didn’t compete in last year’s WWU Classic, ran with the pack early on before breaking away with the leaders on route to finishing in 31:05 over the 10 kilometre race. The Spartans lead runner finished five seconds behind Henry Cheseto of Alaska Anchorage and three seconds ahead of Cheseto’s teammate Dominik Notz.

After White, it was TWU’s Blair Johnson (White Rock, B.C.) crossing the line 11th overall with a time of 31:54 and Joel De Schiffart finishing 12th in 32:01.

Rounding out TWU’s top five was Caleb De Jong (Winnipeg), who finished 27th in 32:30, and Levi Neufeld (Winnipeg), who was 32nd in 32:46.

As a team, the No. 3 ranked Spartans finished third overall. They were only bettered by first place Alaska Anchorage and No. 4 Windsor. The No. 6 ranked Victoria Vikes finished fourth.

The Spartans will now prepare for the BC Provincial Championships on Oct. 24th at Beban Park in Nanaimo, B.C.
