The West Kelowna Warriors got 26 saves from Stephen Heslop and a pair of goals from Jonathan Desbiens in a 3-0 victory over the Powell River Kings Saturday in BCHL action.

The Warriors would control most of the opening period, getting opportunities off the rush against goaltender Stefan Wornig throughout the first ten minutes of action.
Desbiens would break the deadlock at 15:40 when his shot from in front of the goal beat Wornig.
The middle frame would feature some physical play, including big checks and battles all over the ice. A scoreless frame would result as each goalie made 11 saves.

West Kelowna made it 2-0 in the 3rd as Brett Mennear’s shot found its way through Wornig at 5:39.

The Warriors would continue to press, and killed off a pair of minors through the middle part of the third period.

Given a 5 on 3 after a bench minor against the Kings and a slash on Desbiens, Nick Rutigliano would set up Desbiens 2nd of the night on a one-timer.

The Warriors got a point in their 4th straight game, staying tied with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for 2nd in the Interior Division.

The two teams will battle on Friday night at Royal Lepage Place, before the Warriors host the Prince George Spruce Kings on Saturday night.
