The Mount Douglas Football Program opened up Conference play with a terrific double win over Notre Dame. The JV Rams recorded an impressive 40 to shutout, while the Varsity Rams won 41 to 7…details to come. Thank you to those fantastic volunteers who helped make Homecoming at Mount Douglas an outstanding Day…thank you so much!!!
The Varsity Rams played a strong first half building up a 35 to 7 lead at halftime en route to the 41 to 7 victory. The boys played well on both sides of the ball and had some big plays on specials teams in the 1st half. Having said that, there are still some areas that we need to continue to improve upon as we face an extremely talented South Delta team next week. As a team, the Rams rushed for 261 yards with Declann Michielin the leading rusher with 134 yards on just 11 carries, followed by Manny Lopez with 68 yards on 8 carries and 1 TD. Quarterback Gideone Kremler continues to impress everyone completing 9 of 14 passes for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns. Gavin Cobb hauled in 6 receptions for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns for another excellent game. Gavin also recorded a major on the ground. Griffin Posynick scored on the Rams first offensive play with a 40 yard TD reception from Gideone.
The defense was led by a handful of great performances. Mike Olson played his finest game of the year recording 8 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries and a blocked punt. Also registering 8 tackles in the contest were defensive tackle Aidan Kachanoski, who also had a fumble recovery, and linebacker Declann Michielin. Trystin Waters turned in another strong performance with 7 tackles and 1 sack, while Oliver Mackenzie had 6 tackles followed by Quinn Jenish with 5 tackles. Great job all players, let’s continue to work hard and get better!

Mount Douglas Varsity Rams 2015
Saturday October 17th vs South Delta
1:30 pm @ South Delta
Here is the JV Summary courtesy of Coach Zac:
Hello Rams and supporters,
The JV Rams opened their regular season schedule with a bang, welcoming the visiting Notre Dame Jugglers with 40 points on offense and a solid overall effort by the defense to finish the game with a 40-0 win. A hard-working Notre Dame team was tough until the end, but after a slow first half which saw the Rams jump out to a 15-0 lead, the defense stayed strong and the offense looked especially sharp with 4 second half TD’s to put the game away.
Gideone Kremler led the Rams offense to 5 TD’s over the first 3 quarters, going 16 of 23 for 167 yards and 1 touchdown, complemented by 6 rushes for 65 yards and 2 TD’s rushing.
Many different receivers stepped up during the game, led by the following:
Dante Carbone with 5 receptions for 37 yards
Connor Clark with 4 catches for 37 yards, and
Isaiah Cardilicchia with 3 catches for 35 yards
The running game was a go-to as it has been all season, totaling 23 rushes for 166 yards and 4 TD’s.
Leading rushers were:
Logan Sekyer (6 rushes, 49 yards + a receiving TD).
Isaiah Cardilicchia (5 rushes, 34 yards, and a TD)
The defense was especially impressive, recording it’s 2nd shut-out of the season. The Jugglers relied heavily on their run game, and when they did try to pass the ball the secondary was ready to step up – Zairech Kremler had an early interception, and Connor Clarke put the game away with a 45 yard pick six early in the second half. When Notre Dame was forced to go back to their run game, they were stifled by a big effort from the D-line.
The defense was led by the following leading tacklers:
Ben Pierik and Sam Mosky, each with 7 tackles, 1 for loss of yards
Jake Ounsted, 5 tackles, including a sack, a forced fumble and 3 tackles for loss of yards
Sebastian Hansen, 4 tackles, including 3 sacks and 2 for loss of yards
Soren Hallschmid, 5 tackles, including 2 sacks
Zairech Kremler, 5 tackles, 3 passes defended and an interception.
The week upcoming sees the JV Rams with a bye, although a number of players have been called up to play in the Varsity game vs. South Delta on Saturday. This is an exciting rematch of the 2014 Subway Bowl, go Rams!!
Hope to see all players out at practice this week, as we have a tough match-up vs. New West next Friday, October 23rd.
