Calgary, AB – The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) and Western Hockey League (WHL) today announced the two leagues have entered into a new partnership agreement for the 2015-16 CSSHL season.
“The CSSHL has become an important part of the player development system in Western Canada and the WHL is pleased to serve as an Official Partner of the League,” commented WHL Commissioner Ron Robison. “The CSSHL plays an important role in the development of our prospects and are fully committed, as the WHL is, to providing players with the support necessary to accomplish their hockey and academic goals.”
The WHL will be recognized as an “Official Partner” of the CSSHL for the 2015-16 regular season, as well as serving as an event sponsor for the 2016 CSSHL Championships.
“We are excited to partner with the Western Hockey League,” said CSSHL Chairman, Andy Oakes. “The WHL is a leader in the hockey industry across Canada and we are very pleased to align the CSSHL brand with the WHL brand.”
There are currently 52 CSSHL alumni playing in the WHL, while 59 WHL Bantam Draft picks are currently competing within the CSSHL. A total of 36 players were selected out of the CSSHL at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.
