RICHMOND, B.C. (PGA of BC) – In a race that came down to the wire with one last event to determine its recipient, Dave Zibrik of Capilano Golf Club claimed the prestigious 2015 PGA of BC Player of the Year title by just $42 after winning the Srixon Tour Championship on October 20.
The $1000 first place cheque was enough to put Zibrik ahead of Seymour Creek Golf Centre’s Bryn Parry, who also had a successful 2015 season that included a first place finish at the PGA of BC Championship at Fairview Mountain Golf Club. The tournament saw Zibrik and Parry go head to head in the final round, separated only by Parry’s 25-foot birdie putt on #18 which would earn him the Champion title.
In addition to his second place finish at the PGA of BC Championship and third at the PGA of BC Assistants’ Championship, Zibrik had three first place finishes on the 2015 Srixon Tour.
“Placing second at the PGA of BC Championship was the feather in the cap of a great season,” said Zibrik. “This season I’ve been doing a better job of driving the ball and getting the ball in play, but I have definitely been playing less than other years… So it’s nice to get out there and win.”
In addition to PGA of BC events, Zibrik also competed in national events, including advancing to the match play rounds at the PGA Championship of Canada to finish ninth, and playing in the Sani Marc Canada Cup, placing T15. He currently sits at 13th on the PGA of Canada’s Player Rankings.
