Vikes men leave CSU San Marcos Fall Classic in fifth

VICTORIA, B.C. — The University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team finished fifth place at the CSU San Marcos Fall Classic at the Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos, Cali. With a team-best second round of third place, the Vikes finished with a team score of 869 (295, 279, 295) while Lawren Rowe shot a Vikes best 213 (71, 70, 72) in the individual standings — good enough for eighth place.


Andrew Funk tied for 13th individually with 216 (78, 68, 70), including a team-best round score of 68 in the second round. Alex Cartwright, Mike Griffin and Jake Hamilton finished with tied for 39th and 42nd scores of 223, 223, and 225, respectively.

On the team leaderboards, the hosts San Marcos ran out winners with a team score of 852 (285, 277, 290), followed close behind by South Mountain Community College at 853 (286, 280, 287). The tournament’s top scorere was South Mountain’s Ryan Douglass, whose first and second round scores of 67 and 66 helped lead him to a tournament-best 203 (67, 66, 70).

The VIkes travel next to Moine, IL for the NAIA National Championships May 24-27.
