Prince Albert, SK- Victoria Royals’ Vladimir Bobylev notched the overtime winner to defeat the Prince Albert Raiders 3-2 on Friday night in the lone meeting between the two clubs this season.
The Royals’ Joe Hicketts tallied a powerplay marker in the final frame to send the game to extra time. Victoria had multiple scoring opportunities throughout the contest as they peppered 49 shots at Raiders’ netminder Rylan Parenteau. The Royals’ Alex Forsberg tallied the contest’s opening goal on the man-advantage.
Prince Albert received goals from Hunter Warner in the first period and Jesse Lees in the middle frame.
Victoria goaltender Coleman Vollrath turned aside 22 of the 24 shots directed his way. The 20-year-old Vollrath surpassed former Chilliwack Bruins’ netminder Lucas Gore for the all-time franchise record for wins with 60.
The Royals went 2/4=50.0% on the powerplay, while the Raiders went 0/2=0.0% on the night.
Victoria will continue their six-game road trip on Sunday as they head to Saskatoon, SK to face the Blades. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
