Special Teams were the story on Friday night in Salmon Arm, as the Warriors knocked off the Silverbacks 5-4 in Overtime.
The Warriors opened the scoring on the power play when Jake Harrison hammered one past Angus Redmond to open the scoring.
Mitch Newsome and Nick Hutchison responded for the Silverbacks, as they took a 2-1 lead before the end of the period.
Kyle Marino’s deflection tied the game at two, before the Warriors penalty kill went to work.
Kylar Hope and Brett Mennear scored short handed on a pair of Warriors penalties, going in on breakaways and beating Redmond.
The Silverbacks responded in the 3rd period with a pair of power-play goals, as Hutchison’s 2nd goal, and Colton Thibault tied the game.
In the final minute of overtime, Liam Blackburn won the draw directly back to Jonathan Desbiens who wired a wrister home to give the Warriors the win.
West Kelowna out-shot the ‘Backs 36-35 in the game.
These two teams will battle once again on Saturday night, when fans in costume get in free to Royal Lepage Place and there will be candy for the kids as well. Puck drops at 7.
