Tonight’s women’s match was an epic five-setter with the first four sets going neck and neck. The home team got the job done, taking the deciding set 15-8 to capture the win.  Fourth-year outside hitter Katie Fetting (Lethbridge, AB) had an outstanding night with 20 pts (19 kills, 1 block) and 14 digs. Newcomer Morgan Monkman also scored big with 18 pts (17 kills, 1 block). The Chargers improve to 4-1; Douglas drops to 5-2.

The men’s match was a hard-hitting battle with the home team taking it in four. Third-year leftside Haakon Ostrem (Norway) made a massive contribution of 27 offensive points (22 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces) and 12 digs! PACWEST Athlete of the Week, Savana Walkingbear, was also in the double digits with 14 kills, 1 block and 9 digs. Third-year Charger Rian Plante (Comox) made an impressive 6 kills, 2 blocks and 17 digs.

The Chargers are now 5-0. Tonight’s victory breaks Douglas’ undefeated record and the Royals slide to 6-1.


The weekend series against the Douglas College continues with tomorrow’s rematch. CAM hosts DC Women 1pm; Men 3pm.
