Langford, BC November 6,2015 (ISN) – Mount Douglas Rams avenged last weekend’s only loss on the season at the hands of Vancouver College by muzzling the Belmont Bulldogs 43-7 in final regular season play at Westhills Stadium Friday evening.

The Rams would build up a 20-point half time lead on their way to a regular season 4-1 record. For the Bulldogs, the season was not what they had hoped for, as player injuries would keep the gutsy Westshore team on a short leash all season. Unable to secure a win, Belmont would finish 0-5 despite glimmers of a team ready to rise up and complete a a moments notice.
RB Declann Michielin paced the Rams with 3 first half TD’S, 2 on the ground and 1 on a touchdown reception. For the game, Declann had 91 yards on 10 carries. Manny Lopez had his best game of the year rushing for 71 yards on just 4 carries, while converted linemen Aidan Kachanoski rumbled for 29 yards on just 3 carries and 1 touchdown.

Quarterback Gideone Kremler threw for 3 TD’s and 114 yards including touchdown strikes to Josh Lucas, Oliver MacKenzie and of course Declann Michielin. Mike Olson would go a perfect 5 for 5 on converted kicks and a safety for the Rams.
The Bulldogs’ QB Darian Jules would throw Belmont’s sole TD to Darien Attridge to keep the score game close early after a sustained drive would keep the Rams, uncharacteristically, back on their heals and in their own “red” zone ultimately costing them the Belmont score, narrowing the margin to 13-7.

Bulldogs Brett Milligan would be relied upon for most of the team’s ground attack, sometimes carrying the ball and multiple Rams players on his back for extra yards. The multi-talented Milligan would come in late, replacing Darian Jules at the QB helm for the Dogs, hoping to provide a late game spark.

Defensively, the Rams would keep the Bulldogs in the pen most of the game. Michael Olson who had a huge game registering 4 tackles, 3 sacks and a safety led the stingy Rams defence. Declann Michielin had 4 tackles while Aidan Kachanoski was again impressive with 3 tackles and 2 sacks. Trystin Waters had 2 tackles and 1 sack. It was a great collective effort as 18 different players for the Rams registered tackles in the contest.

“One of the highlights of the evening was having quarterback Gideone Kremler take a snap under center and hand the ball off to his twin brother Zairech at tailback with older brother Justice leading the way blocking from his fullback position. It certainly was a memorable play for the brothers and the Mount Douglas family, perhaps a first in BC High School Football with an all brother backfield. And they executed the play flawlessly.”

Despite the score, Rams head coach Mark Townsend was complimentary post game about the Bulldogs effort. “Belmont played a gutsy game and I give the full credit.”
