Congratulations to both the JV Football Rams and the Varsity Football Rams for their respective wins over cross-town rival Belmont this past Friday.  With the victories, coupled with outstanding seasons from both the JV and Varsity squads, each team has earned a first round bye in the playoffs and will begin their playoffs in 2 weeks with quarter-final playoff action…more details to come later on.

In the Varsity contest, the Rams built up a 27 to 7 halftime lead en route to a 43 to 7 win over Belmont.  Declann Michielin paced the Rams with 3 first half touchdowns, 2 on the ground and 1 on a touchdown reception.  For the game, Declann had 91 yards on 10 carries.  Manny Lopez had his best game of the year rushing for 71 yards on just 4 carries, while converted linemen and the newest member of “The Unit”  (running backs club) Aidan Kachanoski rumbled for 29 yards on 3 carries and 1 touchdown.  Quarterback Gideone Kremler threw 3 TD strikes and 114 passing yards including touchdown passes to Josh Lucas, Oliver MacKenzie and of course Declann.  Among the highlights of the night was the all Kremler Brother backfield, stellar play by the entire Offensive and Defensive Lines, a nifty run by Khai Ly and of course the impressive debut running the ball by Aidan Kachanoski.

On the defensive side of the ball, the stingy Rams defence was led by Michael Olson who had a huge game registering 4 tackles, 3 sacks and a safety.  Michael was also a perfect 5 for 5 in Convert Kicks.  Declann Michielin had 4 tackles while Aidan Kachanoski was again impressive with 3 tackles and 2 sacks. The always solid Trystin Waters had 2 tackles and 1 sack.  It was a great collective/team effort as 18 different players for the Rams registered tackles in the contest including 9 players with multi-tackle games.  The Wolf of the Week went to Isaiah Hunt who recovered a fumble on the kickoff squad.

Here is the JV game Summary from Coach Karn and Coach Zac: Hello Rams and supporters,
Those who attended the Junior Varsity game against cross-town rival Belmont this past Friday were treated to a dominant performance. After losing back to back games, the Rams came out focused and ready in what was the team’s final regular season game. ‎The Bulldogs put up a valiant fight, but the Rams defense was stifling and the rushing game dominant, resulting in a 27-0 win for the Rams.

On defense, the D-line regularly got into the Belmont backfield to pressure their QB, and except for a few plays, the secondary provided blanket coverage for most of the game. In the 4th quarter, Isaiah Cardilicchia put the game away with an interception and an 80 yard return, and also contributed 5 tackles. Throughout the rest of the game, the defense was led by Sam Mosky, who was all over the field, finishing with 9 tackles (2 for loss of yards), a forced fumble ‎and 2 passes defended. Other leading tacklers were:
Sebastian Hansen – 6 tackles (3 for loss of yards)
Zairech Kremler – 6 tackles and one pass defended
Connor Clarke – 6 tackles
Soren Hallschmid – 5 tackles (1 for loss of yards), and a sack
Jake Ounsted – 2 big sacks and a tackle for loss of yards

On offense, it was a game of big-plays. ‎Gideone led the passing attack, going 6 of 14 for a total of 104 yards, the biggest play a 50 yard catch and run by Zairech Kremler to open up the scoring. Although receiving yardage was limited, the receivers continued to work hard and the offense was assisted by 4 pass interference penalties.
The ground game was a go-to all afternoon, finishing with a total of 19 rushes for 176 yards. The highlight was a 66 yard run by Gideone, who finished with 8 rushes for 118 yards. Logan Sekyer chipped in with 6 rushes for 42 yards and a TD.

The JV Rams finish the regular season with an overall record of 6 wins and 2 losses, and 2-2 in league play. Next up is the JV play-offs. ‎The top 12 AAA teams make the play-offs, with the top 4 getting a first round bye. Based on our regular season and two very close losses to Top 5 teams, we have been ranked #2. We will not have a game this week as we have earned a bye. Our quarter final game will be on Wed, November 18th vs. an opponent yet to be determined.
Let’s have a great week of practices, and hopefully it will be the first step towards a championship run, culminating with the Subway Bowl in December!
As always, thanks for your ongoing support.
Coach Karn
