It was a great showing from the Cowichan Women’s Premier team first premier game on home turf. Their opponent, Burnaby Women’s Premier team put up a good fight within the first 15 min but the Cowichan Piggies powered through in a hard hitting match.

Cowichan’s #8 Laura Russell had a excellent match with many powerful runs, making it difficult for Burnaby to make a tackle. Cowichan’s #4 Brittney Brown opened the scoring with a try right between the uprights. Michelle Moore #9 for Cowichan  distributed the ball well and had a few runs of her own. Carolyn Gudmundseth #15 for Cowichan made some outstanding tackles preventing Burnaby from getting back into the match.

It was a special day for the Cowichan Club as it was Homecoming day for past members to celebrate the 96/97 Men’s team that was being inducted into the North Cowichan wall of fame.

The next game for the Cowichan women will be Nov 21 against Velox Westshore.
