WolfPack Sweep Cascades In Men’s Basketball

Kamloops, BC—The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack will enter the Canada West men’s basketball Christmas break sitting in first place in the Explorer Division.

Thompson Rivers closed out a four game home stand in fine fashion with a 96-66 victory over the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. 

TRU swept the Cascades and now has a record of 7-1.  Fraser Valley falls to 5-3.

“I was happy for the guys,” said WolfPack head coach Scott Clark. “I thought they had a good effort.  It is a nice way to go into the break.”

Thompson Rivers led 26-7 after the first quarter and led 49-23 at the half. The only quarter where the Cascades were close was the third where TRU outscored them 27-26.

The WolfPack had five players in double figures led by Luke Morris (3rd year, forward, Mission, BC) who had 17 points and 15 rebounds (nine on the defensive side).

Reese Pribilsky (5th year, guard, Victoria, BC) and Albert Medrano (3rd year, guard, Los Altos, CA) had 17 points as well.  Pribilsky was named the “TRU Bookstore/McDonalds Leader of the Pack” Player of the game.  He added six assits, a block and two steals.

Volodymyr Iegorov (4th year, forward, Donetsk, Ukraine) had 16 points for TRU while Josh Wolfram (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC0 had 15 points.

Fraser Valley were led by Vijay Dhillon and Matt Cooley with 13 points. Navjot Bains contributed 12 points.

The WolfPack will go to Billings, Montana to play Rocky Mountain College (NAIA) in a pair of exhibition games on December 29th and 30th. They return to regular Canada West play on Friday, January 8, 2016 in Kelowna, BC against the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat.  The Cascades will host the Mount Royal Cougars that same weekend.

The next home action for TRU as the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre will be Friday, January 22nd when they entertain Mount Royal University. Tip off will be 8 pm.
