Victoria Cougars trounced the Comox Valley Glacier Kings 6-0


COURTENAY, B.C. – The Victoria Cougars trounced the Comox Valley Glacier Kings 6-0 to extend their winning streak to 11 games on Saturday.

Nathan Looysen scored three times while Dom Kolbeins, Ryan Vorster, and Brett Lervold each added singles.

Victoria, which led 2-0 after one period and 4-0 after two, improves to 21-4-1-0.

The scoring line of Cody Hodges, Kolbeins, and Looysen combined for ten points.

First in the league in special teams, the Cougars finished 2-for-7 with the man advantage and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Anthony Ciurro stopped all 15 shots for his VIJHL-leading seventh shutout of the season.

The Glacier Kings, the last team to beat Victoria, fall to 11-12-0-3.

Paul Broadbent was pulled at the start of the third period after allowing four goals on 22 shots.

Next game for the Cougars is Thursday, December 3 against the Westshore Wolves.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
