The Victoria Cougars host the Westshore Wolves this Thursday in one of two Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League games on tap.

Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Fans wearing Cougars apparel like a hat, shirt, or jersey to the game will be let in for only five dollars.

Thursday marks the fourth of eight meetings between these two teams.

Victoria (21-4-1-0) will be looking for its twelfth straight victory while other personal streaks will be on the line as well.

Nathan Looysen will try to extend his point streak to 21 games.  The former Kamloops Blazers forward recorded three goals and one assist in Saturday’s 6-0 win over the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.  That gave Looysen, whose 64 points leads the VIJHL in scoring, 23 goals and 32 assists in his last 20 games.

Acquired for his offensive prowess from the Chase Heat of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League during the offseason, Cody Hodges extended his point streak to 14 games and has found the score sheet 24 out of a possible 26 times.  The Chase, BC native sits just three points back of Looysen in scoring.

Dom Kolbeins, the third member of the Looysen-Hodges line, has played two dozen times and has recorded at least a point in all 24 games.  A standout last year for the West Sound Warriors of the Northern Pacific Hockey League, the Campbell River, BC native has scored a goal in each of his last eight games. Kolbeins is tied with Hodges for the league lead with ten power play goals.

In net, Anthony Ciurro is on pace to break Connor Beauchamp’s club record for shutouts in a season.  Beauchamp led the Cougars with nine shutouts during the 2013-14 regular season.  So far, Ciurro is three off the pace of shattering the record.  The Peoria, AZ native has also not allowed a goal in 136 minutes and 33 seconds.

Ryan Carson, Kameron Fink, Brett Lervold, and Ryan Vorster of Victoria are all riding two game point streaks.

The Wolves (14-9-0-3) won their last game by defeating the Oceanside Generals 6-3 Saturday.  Jackson Penney and his charges go for two in a row on Wednesday when it hosts Comox Valley at The Q Centre.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL, Ryan Paisley and the Kerry Park Islanders visit Jordan Levesque and the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
