Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon has announced that Kyle Gustafson has been promoted to the position of Associate Coach.

Gustafson is in his 11th season with the team, having spent his entire tenure as an assistant coach. During Gustafson’s time with the Hawks, the team has won four Western Conference championships, the 2012-13 WHL championship and had 29 players selected in the NHL Draft.

“Kyle has been an integral member of the Winterhawks for over a decade, and this promotion is well-deserved,” said Kompon. “He’s been a big part in the success of the team and the development of our players, while spearheading several initiatives off the ice.”

“I’m grateful to management for offering me the position of Associate Coach,” said Gustafson. “This is a great organization and I’m proud of our accomplishments and excited for the future.”

In addition to his coaching duties, Gustafson oversees the Winterhawks Hockey School in the summer, the Friends of the Winterhawks golf tournament, and is actively involved with the Junior Winterhawks program.
