Women’s Team Hits the Road for Rio Qualifier

Canada’s women’s volleyball team is heading to the U.S. to compete in the 2016 NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament.

“We’ve had a short and intense training period preparing for this tournament,” explains head coach Arnd Ludwig. “The athletes worked really hard and came back in great shape from their professional teams. We look forward to competing at the highest level, and moving towards the next step of our biggest goal.”

The women’s NORCECA Olympic Qualification Tournament will be held Jan. 7 to 9 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. The U.S., ranked No. 1 in the world and reigning world champions, are hosting the four-team round-robin with Dominican Republic (7th), Puerto Rico (16th) and Canada (17th). The tournament winner will earn NORCECA’s berth into the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
