The Chargers women picked up their second win of the season tonight shooting a season best of 51.4% from the field! Four Chargers scored into the double-digits in this evening’s contest: Second-year guard Kathryn Candell (Pacific Christian) led with 26 pts and third-year post Rachael Bakker (Duncan Christian) chipped in 14 pts. Newcomer Tessa Lannon-Paakspuu (guard from Penticton Sec.) and third-year post Kelly Young (Oak Bay) each left the game with 10 apiece. Camosun improves to 2-6; Kwantlen drops to 0-8.

The Chargers men cruised to their fourth victory tonight, leaving the Eagles winless over 8 games. First-year forward Mathew Hampton paced the Chargers with 24 pts and 7 rebounds over 27 minutes of play. Fourth-year forwards Rulon Schmidt (Cowichan Sec) and teammate AJ Beaudry (Winnipeg, MB) knocked in 15 pts and 14 pts respectively and each had 7 rebounds. Second-year guard Eric Weatherby (Salt Spring) contributed 11 pts and 3 rebounds. As a team, Camosun shot 48.1% but connected on only two-three pointers.

The Chargers basketball teams return to PISE tomorrow to take on the Columbia Bible Bearcats. Women 1pm; Men 3pm

Chargers in Abbotsford vs. University of the Fraser Valley Cascades (UFV)

WVB:     UFV def. CAM 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-18) 

MVB:     CAM def. UFV 3-2 (23-25; 25-21. 21-25, 25-22, 15-12)

Chargers and Cascades face off again tomorrow in Abbotsford. Women 1pm; Men 3pm.
