Prince Albert, SK – Three different players collected three points as the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers with a convincing 8-2 win on Saturday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
After suffering their worst loss of the season on Friday, an 8-1 setback on the road to the Brandon Wheat Kings, the Raiders bounced back in a big way. Prince Albert scored four goals in the second period to break open the game and added three more in the third.
Luke Coleman (3a), Reid Gardiner (2g-1a), and Matteo Gennaro (1g-2a) all registered three points, while Simon Stransky (2a), Jordan Tkatch (2a), and Tim Vanstone (1g-1a) had two points. Jesse Lees, Sean Montgomery, Kolten Olynek, and Dylan Williamson all scored singles.
The Tigers scored two goals in the game, both in the first minute of periods. Max Gerlach connected in the opening minute of the first period, while Connor Clouston scored 45 seconds into the final frame.
Prince Albert puck stopper Rylan Parenteau made 44 saves 46 shots.
Nick Schneider got the start for Medicine Hat but was pulled after stopping 30 of 36 attempts. Mack Shields took over early in the third period and saved three of five shots.
The Tigers outshot the Raiders 46-41. Prince Albert went 2-for-3 on the power play, while Medicine Hat was 0-for-6.
The Raiders improve to 24-14-3-1 on the year, while the Tigers dropped to 15-22-3-1.
The Raiders begin a three-game Central Division road trip on Wednesday, January 13 as they take on the Edmonton Oil Kings. The team returns to Prince Albert on Friday, January 22 when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is 7:00 PM.
