The Chargers women collected their first weekend sweep with today’s solid victory over the CBC Bearcats. The team shot 48.1% from the field with third-year post Kelly Young (Oak Bay) leading the charge with 23 pts and 14 rebounds. Three other Chargers hit double-digits: 2nd year guard Kathryn Candell (Pacific Christian) posted 16 pts and newcomer Jade Heavener (GP Vanier, Courtenay) scored 10. Third-year post Rachael Bakker (Duncan Christian) contributed 13 pts and 17 rebounds. Both Camosun and CBC are 3-6.

Camosun collected their fifth win of the season today, defeating the Bearcats who drop to 1-8. Fourth-year forward Ted Neilson (Dover Bay, Nanaimo) led the Chargers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. First-year forward Mathew Hampton (Oak Bay High) was close behind with 20 pts and 6 rebounds. The team shot 43.5% from the field.

Up next for the Chargers basketball teams are a pair of road games against the Langara Falcons and Quest Kermodes, January 15 & 16.
