The Victoria Cougars go for their 21st win in a row when they host the Westshore Wolves in one of two Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League games on tap this Thursday.

Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.

Victoria (30-4-1-0) kept its streak alive by handing the Peninsula Panthers a 5-4 double overtime loss last Thursday.

Lane Vandewetering scored twice, including the game winner at 2:30 of double overtime.

Six of the 20 Cougars wins have come by two goals or less and the game last Thursday was a come-from-behind effort over Peninsula.

The streak began with a 5-0 win over the Kerry Park Islanders on October 25 and during that span Victoria has outscored its opposition 118-31.

Westshore and the Cougars meet for the seventh time this Thursday.

The last time they met, Anthony Ciurro stopped 23 shots for his eighth shutout in a 5-0 win.

Cody Hodges, Brett Lervold, Nathan Looysen, and Dom Kolbeins also recorded three points apiece in that game to help Victoria improve to 5-1-0-0 against the Wolves in their last six meetings.

Westshore (16-17-0-3) dropped a 1-0 decision to the Islanders last Saturday.  Jackson Penney and his charges will try to snap a four game losing streak on Wednesday when they host Peninsula at The Q Centre.

Hockey fans will get another chance to see 16-year-old forward Tanner Sidaway in action before he ascends up the ladder from Junior B to Major Junior.

But it will be with the Kootenay Ice instead of the Red Deer Rebels.  Just last week, Sidaway was dealt to Kootenay along with Presten Kopeck, Ryan Pouliot, and two bantam draft picks from Red Deer in exchange for Luke Philp.

Expect Sidaway in an Ice uniform next season.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL, Gage Colpron and the Campbell River Storm visit Jordan Levesque and the Nanaimo Buccaneers.
