Reid Gardiner nets overtime win for Prince Albert over Swift Current

Prince Albert, SK – Jordan Tkatch collected two points and set-up the game-winning goal as the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Swift Current Broncos 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

Reid Gardiner scored the winner for the Raiders at 2:56 of the extra frame. Gardiner and Tkatch each notched a goal and an assist for two points to top Prince Albert. Hunter Warner recorded the game-tying goal at 13:18 of the third period.

The Broncos got both their goals from Tyler Steenbergen.

Raiders’ goaltender Rylan Parenteau made 24 saves on 26 attempts, while Broncos’ puck stopper Taz Burman kicked out 27 of 30 shots.

The Raiders outshot the Broncos 30-26. Prince Albert went 0-for-4 on the power play, while Swift Current was 1-for-3.

The Raiders improve their record to 33-20-7-1 on the season, while the Broncos fall to 21-31-5-3.

Prince Albert needs just a single point, or a Saskatoon Blades loss, to officially clinch a playoff spot.

The Raiders hit the road for a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a meeting against the Regina Pats on Friday, February 26. The team is back on home ice on Friday, March 4, when they host the Kootenay Ice.
