March 5, 2016, Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Toronto Blue Jays Honda Super Camp will return to Victoria for a third consecutive year in 2016, with a two-day instructional baseball camp for youth players taking place at Royal Athletic Park on July 12-13.
2011 Baseball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time World Series champion Roberto Alomar headlines the group of five Blue Jays alumni who will oversee instruction at the camp. Alomar has attended both previous Victoria camps, and will be joined in 2016 by his father, former major league player and coach Sandy Alomar Sr., as well as former Blue Jays closer Duane Ward, former outfielder Lloyd Moseby, and former infielder Rance Mulliniks.
The instructional camps are for youth players aged nine to 16. Camps will take place Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13, from 9am to 1pm each day.
“With all the excitement the Blue Jays brought to sports fans from coast to coast last summer, this will be an exciting event to have in Victoria again,” said Jim Swanson, Managing Partner of the HarbourCats.
2015 camp instructors included (L to R), Roberto Alomar, Devon White, Homer Bush, Tanyon Sturtze, Brian McRae and Lloyd Moseby.
“Working with the Greater Victoria Baseball Association on arrangements locally has been a strong partnership, and we know the former Jays love this stop on their tour. We’re proud of this relationship, three years running.”
Cost of registration for the two-day instructional camp with the Blue Jays greats is $199. To register and for more information regarding the camps, please visit the Blue Jays official website HERE:
More than 200 youth players have participated in the first two Victoria Super Camps, which debuted in 2014, with 130 participants.
The extremely successful Honda Super Camps have become an annual tradition with camps held nation-wide, teaching youth the basics of the game and instilling values that they can use inside and outside of the game.
