Victoria drops 5-2 decision to Spokane

Spokane, WA- The Victoria Royals were defeated 5-2 by the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday night, but continue to lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.


Spokane’s Hudson Elynuik scored the game winner in the middle frame. Victoria tallied twice in the third period with goals from rookies Matthew Phillips and Scott Walford.


Royals’ netminder Coleman Vollrath turned aside 32 of the 37 shots fired his way. Chiefs’ goaltender Lasse Petersen stopped 22 of the 24 shots he faced.


Victoria posted a 1/5=20.0% mark on the powerplay, while Spokane went 2/6=33.3% with the man-advantage.


The Royals will continue their best-of-seven series tomorrow night in Spokane with Game 4 slated for 7:05 p.m.


Victoria returns home for Game 5 on Saturday with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m.
