The TORONTO BLUE JAYS will open the home portion of their 40th season with the HONDA HOME OPENER on Friday, April 8th against the Boston Red Sox at 7:07pm, as part of HONDA OPENING WEEKEND. Gates will open at 5:00pm and Blue Jays fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early and be part of the festive atmosphere at the ballpark. Opening ceremonies will begin promptly at 6:55 pm.
Upon entering Rogers Centre, all Blue Jays fans will receive a 2015 AL East Championship Rally Towel to wave during the game to support the home team. Courtesy of Honda Canada, one lucky baseball fan will be awarded a brand new 2016 Honda CR-V EX.
In addition, the Jays Care Foundation 50/50 draw offers fans the chance to win big! New for 2016, electronic tickets are available on the 100, 200 and 500 level concourses.
Pregame ceremonies will honour the Blue Jays 40th season and celebrate the 2015 AL East Division Championship team. The ceremonies will be highlighted with a presentation of the 2015 MVP Award to Josh Donaldson by Blue Jays Level of Excellence member George Bell. Donaldson’s award marks just the 2nd MVP award in franchise history along with the aforementioned Bell, who took home the honour in 1987.
Performing the national anthems will be Sgt. Cindy Scott & Sgt. David Grenon from the Canadian Armed Forces. Presenting the colours will be members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and carrying the Canadian Flag will be 250 members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Following the game all fans will be presented with a 2016 Toronto Blue Jays magnet schedule. Fans across the country can watch the game, including the pregame ceremonies, live on Sportsnet, Sportsnet Now or listen to the game on the Sportsnet Radio network. Honda Opening Weekend, continues on Saturday with the first Jr. Jays Saturday presented by Boston Pizza. To close out the festivities, the first 20,000 fans on Sunday will receive a 2015 AL East Championship Pennant presented by Honda.
