Prince Albert defender to compete at IIHF Under-18 World Championships
Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that rookie defenceman Vojtech Budik will represent the Czech Republic at the 2016 IIHF Under-18 World Championships taking place from April 14-24 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
It will be Budik’s second stint at the IIHF Under-18 World Championships. The 18-year-old blue liner played in five games at the 2015 tournament in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Budik recently completed his first season in Prince Albert where he compiled three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 70 games. The Holice, Czech Republic product also skated in all five of the Raiders’ playoff games where he recorded a goal. Budik was ranked 61st among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting in their midterm rankings.
The six-foot-one, 186-pound rearguard has previously represented his country at the under-16, under-17 and under-18 levels. Budik won a silver medal with the Czech Republic at the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival and competed at the 2015 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
