ESQUIMALT, B.C. – The Campbell River Storm defeated the Mission City Outlaws 8-4.
After going winless in round-robin play, the Storm takes home bronze from the Cyclone Taylor Cup.
Christian Brandt scored twice for Campbell River while Dylan McCann, Gage Colpron, Alex Rosolowsky, Josh Coblenz, Carter Hikichi, and Reece Costain each added singles.
The game was tied 2-2 after one period before the Storm jumped out to a 5-3 lead after two.
Jake Mullen started in net for Campbell River but was pulled after allowing two goals on 11 shots. His replacement, Riley Welyk, made 22 saves and was credited with the win.
Scoring for the Outlaws were Brody Dyck with a pair, Cole Pisiak, and David McGowan.
Mission City went with Jason Sandhu in between the pipes. The former Surrey Eagles goalie turned aside 35-of-43 shots.
Tempers flared near the end of the game. Brendan Murphy fought Costain, one of the toughest players in the VIJHL.
Campbell River went 1-for-3 with the man advantage while the Outlaws received no power play chances.
