Kelowna, BC- The Victoria Royals were defeated 3-2 by the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday night at Prospera Place, but continue to lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.
The Rockets’ Tomas Soustal scored the game-winner midway through the third frame. Victoria’s Matthew Phillips and Alex Forsberg scored in the second and third period respectively. Kelowna’s other tallies were scored by Dillon Dube and Rourke Chartier in the first stanza.
Victoria netminder Coleman Vollrath turned aside 35 of the 38 shots fired his way. With tonight’s contest, Vollrath set the new franchise record for most post-season games played at 16. The previous record was held by alumni Patrik Polivka.
Kelowna goaltender Michael Herringer stopped 30 of the 32 shots he faced.
The Royals went 0/3= 0.0% with the man-advantage, while the Rockets held a 1/3= 33.3% mark.
Victoria will continue their best-of-seven series Thursday night in Kelowna with Game 4 scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
The Royals return home for Game 5 on Friday with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m.
