Brandon Wheat Kings Face Red Deer In Conference Final

Brandon, MB. – It’ll be the Brandon Wheat Kings up against the Red Deer Rebels in the Western Hockey League Eastern Conference Final.

The Rebels punched their ticket to the WHL’s “Final Four” Tuesday night with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Regina Pats in the seventh and deciding game of that Eastern Semi-Final.

Brandon will host the first two games of the series this Friday and Saturday nights at Westman Communications Group Place

Following the weekend, the series will shift to Red Deer – Hosts of this year’s MasterCard Memorial Cup – for games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 26th and 27th.

The remaining schedule of games – if necessary – look like this:

7) Red Deer @ Brandon                 Tuesday, May 3                 7:00 pm

The Wheat Kings advanced to the Eastern Conference Final, for the second straight year, by defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Semi-Finals. This will mark the first time in thirteen years that Brandon has played Red Deer in the WHL playoffs.

The first 4,000 fans in attendance Friday night will receive a Wheat Kings #GoldRush Rally Towel.

Wheat Kings’ Playoff Hockey is a presentation of Precision Toyota, Montana’s Barbecue and Bar, The Brandon Sun and Sunrise Credit Union.

Meanwhile in the Western Conference, the defending Champion Kelowna Rockets scored a come from behind 3-2 overtime victory in Victoria to win that best of seven series in seven games.

The Rockets will now play Seattle for the right to meet the winner between Brandon and Red Deer in the WHL Championship.
