Former Cowichan Valley Forward commits to Trinity Western’s men’s hockey team

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western’s men’s hockey team took another big step towards solidifying its forward unit for years to come as coach Barret Kropf officially announced the signing of Chilliwack Chiefs forward Taylor Allan (Calgary) Thursday.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Allan arrives in Langley having played 162 games at the Junior “A” level, competing in both the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League), with Cowichan Valley, Prince George and, most recently, Chilliwack, and the AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League), with Camrose, Okotoks and Lloydminster.

The graduate of Calgary’s Central Memorial High School finished his junior career with 45 goals and 49 assists to go with 155 penalty minutes. This year, after putting up 14 goals and 15 assists in 39 games with Lloydminster, the 20-year-old Allan was sent to Chilliwack at the trade deadline and finished the year with six goals and 10 assists in 19 games with the Chiefs.

“Taylor is another exciting Junior ‘A’ forward that we are adding to the mix for next season,” Kropf said. “He has a lot of offensive talent that will give us some firepower for years to come. Having him join our team gives us another proven leader who will be able to jump in and help our program right away.”

Allan, who plans to study business or education, said: “I am excited to be coming to such a fantastic program that is getting better every year. I can’t wait to get to TWU and work towards a degree while helping contribute to a great team.”

Allan joins recently committed forward Jarrett Fontaine (Humboldt, Sask.) as part of Kropf’s 2016 recruiting class.
