Mackenzie Tour – PGATOUR Canada Storylines – Canada Q-School

Mackenzie Tour Q-School resumes this week with the fourth and final 2016 qualifying tournament, heading to the Crown Isle Resort and Golf Community in Courtenay, British Columbia.

HOW IT WORKS

132 players will compete at the fourth and final qualifying tournament for the 2016 Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada. Here’s the breakdown of the status available at each of the four events:

 

 

THE COURSE

Crown Isle, a 7,025-yard layout designed by Graham Cooke and Associates in 1992, has hosted Mackenzie Tour qualifying each of the last two years. Water-lined with 11 lakes and immaculately manicured, the course offers stunning vistas of the Comox Glacier and Beaufort Mountain Range.

FIVE PLAYERS TO WATCH

Aaron Wise (Lake Elsinore, California)
Currently a sophomore at the University of Oregon, Wise is no. 6 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and recently captured individual victory at the Amer Ari Invitational.

Adam Cornelson (Lake British, Columbia)
Cornelson finished runner-up at the 2014 Freedom 55 Financial Championship and owns nine top-25 finishes in 50 career Mackenzie Tour starts.

Jonathan Garrick (Atherton, California)
The current UCLA Bruin was named an second-team All-American in 2015, when he recorded seven top-20 finishes. Currently ranked 40th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Sepp Straka (Valdosta, Georgia)
Currently a co-captain at the University of Georgia, Straka is in the midst of a senior season where he has recorded five top-10s.  

Hugo Leon (Santiago, Chile)
The two-time Mackenzie Tour winner finished fourth on the 2013 Order of Merit to earn Web.com Tour status, where he has been competing for the past two seasons.

FUHR CHASING THE DREAM AT Q-SCHOOL

Five-time Stanley Cup Champion goaltender Grant Fuhr will tee it up at Q-School this week. The Hockey Hall of Fame member has played Q-School on three occasions previously and was recently named the Honourary Tournament Chair of the Oil Country Championship. He competed at the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel last year on a sponsor exemption.
