The Harnett brothers have had great success playing with each other throughout their careers
Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce the signing of Jon and Greg Harnett for the 2016 WLA season. Both Harnetts are fan favourites for their intensity on the floor, and they bring depth and experience to the Shamrocks back end.
Greg, 25, joined the Shamrocks in 2012, and has played in 51 WLA regular season games and 42 playoff games in four seasons. Jon, 27, joined his brother on the team in 2013, after four seasons with Coquitlam. In three seasons with the Shamrocks, Jon has played in 35 regular season games and 41 playoff games.
The Harnett brothers have had great success playing with each other throughout their careers. Born and raised in Toronto, the brothers played their junior lacrosse for the Orangeville Northmen, and together, they won a Minto Cup in 2008. The Harnetts now live in Victoria year round, and the Shamrocks have obtained a full release from Cobourg Kodiaks MS. They will be back to try to add another Mann Cup to their already impressive resumes.
Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch is happy to have the Harnetts back for the 2016 season. “The Harnett brothers are a huge part of our core,” says Welch. “They’re fierce competitors who will do whatever it takes to win. I’ve loved watching them play since their junior days with the Orangeville Northmen, and I couldn’t be happier to have them here.”
