Gymnasts earn the Podium at Provincials
Sixteen members of Duncan’s Gymnastics club showed a remarkable display of skill and talent,earning them 13 medals and 15 top ten ribbon placements at the 2016 Artistic Gymnastics B.C.Championships in Langley over the April 15 th 16 th weekend.
The event brought together over 500 athletes from across B.C., competing to earn a spot onTeam BC and represent the province at both the Western Canadian Games and the CanadianGymnastics Championships in May.
Duncan Dynamics Provincal Results:
Junior Olympic Level 6 (2005): Sophie Chernykh earned a 6 th on the vault.
Junior Olympic Level 6 (2004): Anna Akhurtst earned Bronze on Beam and a 5 th place on floor.
Junior Olympic Level 6 (2003): Cheyenne MacKeil took the Gold medal on Beam, Silver onBars, a 4 th place ribbon for Floor for a combined 3 rd place All Around. Teammate Sarah Carsonearned a Silver on the Vault with a 7 th place ribbon for Floor, earning her 9 th All Around.
Junior Olympic Level 6 (1998-2001): Trystinna Bailey took the Silver on the Beam, along withan 8 th place on the Floor and 10 th place on the Vault.
The Level 6 athletes assisting in having the Vancouver Island Zone 6 win the Bronze medal forthe Zone Teams.
Junior Olympic Level 7 (2004-2007): Brooklyn Stobbe took the Gold Medal on Floor.
Junior Olympic Level 7 (2003): Tahara Brown earned the Silver on Vault, a 5 th place on Floorand 8 th All Around.
Junior Olympic Level 9 (1997-2002): Hayley Baker took the Gold medal on Vault, coupled witha 7 th place ribbon for the Floor. Teammate Micaylla Broadway earned a 5 th place for Bars, 6 thplace on beam, 8 th place on floor and 6 th All Around, thereby securing her a spot to attend the BCWestern Games in May.
Junior Olympic Level 10 (1998-2000): Darby McIntyre took the Silver medals for Vault andFloor, the Bronze on Bars, a 6 th on Beam for a combined 3 rd place All-Around. This securedDarby a spot to attend the 2016 Canadian Gymnastics Championships coming up at the end ofMay in Edmonton, Alberta.
