2016 is the fourth season of HarbourCats baseball in Victoria, dubbed the ‘Grand Slam Season’
Victoria, B.C- Everyone wins, and saves, with the latest partnership announced today — Save-On Foods, fans of the Victoria HarbourCats, and the people who look after the team’s players.
The Victoria HarbourCats and Save-On Foods are pleased to announce a 2016 plan that will see the Host Family Program sponsored by Save-On Foods. As well, fans can buy tickets through any Victoria-area Save-On Foods store for games, called the Save-On Foods Silver Section, just $8 for general admission tickets.
Save-On Foods will start selling tickets for the Silver Section as of June 1, and that program will run throughout the season.
Host families are a crucial part of the team each season. Many HarbourCats players hail from parts outside Vancouver Island with most coming from the United States. During their approximately 11 weeks in Victoria, our players stay with billet or ‘host’ families who provide them a home away from home during the West Coast League season. One host family will typically house one to two players for the summer.
Save-On Foods has stepped up to the plate once again this year to sponsor the HarbourCats host family program, providing benefits to all families who house a HarbourCat.
“We are extremely grateful for the support and contributions of Save-On Foods again this season as host families are vital to our team,” said Brittany French, Assistant GM and Host Family Coordinator for the HarbourCats. “Families who provide players with a comfortable home away from home will quickly realize how much their players bring to their lives. You will gain lifelong friends, and will become an important part of your players’ lives. HarbourCats players are great role models for any young ball players as well.”
The HarbourCats are still seeking a few more host families for the 2016 season. Contact Brittany French (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
MONK OFFICE GAME DAY AND BARK IN THE PARK ON JUNE 26
The HarbourCats are pleased to announce Monk Office Game Day, set for June 26 at Royal Athletic Park. The Sunday 1:00pm first pitch will feature a matchup between the HarbourCats and the Kitsap BlueJackets.
June 26 is also Bark in the Park presented by Bosley’s on Yates. Fans will be able to bring their favorite four legged friends to the ballpark for this game.
“This is the first time we are trying this, and we’re excited to bring a different atmosphere to the park that day,” said Brad Norris-Jones, General Manager. “This is done in baseball parks all through the minor leagues with great success, and with Victoria being such a pet-friendly city, we expect to see dogs and puppies of all sizes and shapes that day. This is about loving our pets, and about responsible pet ownership and handling, and we’re so thankful to Bosley’s on Yates for supporting this game.
