Prince Albert inks top selection from 2016 draft class
Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that the team has signed defenceman Rhett Rhinehart to a Western Hockey League Standard Players Agreement.
The Raiders selected the 14-year-old blue liner in the first round, 13th overall, in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft last week. Rhinehart becomes the first member of the Raiders’ 2016 draft class to ink a contract with the team.
“We are excited to bring Rhett into the Raider organization. Rhett will be a strong addition to the blue line and will excite Raider fans for many years to come” said Raiders Director of Player Personnel Ron Gunville.
Rhinehart, a Lloydminster, AB native, spent the 2015-16 season with the Yale Hockey Academy Bantam Prep team where he collected five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 25 contests. In four playoff games, he compiled two goal and six assists for eight points. Rhinehart also spent time last year with Yale’s Elite 15s squad where he skated in five games.
Prince Albert now has six former first round selections under contract with Rhinehart, Cole Fonstad, Carson Miller, Ian Scott, Brendan Guhle, and Reid Gardiner all inked to deals.
