It was a typical weekend for the Intermediate and Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks, both playing at home Saturday.
In the matinee it was the Intermediate Shamrocks improving their record to 4-1 with a 14-10 victory over the visiting Delta Islanders. The Shamrocks jumped out to a 7-0 first period before surrendering 7 themselves in the second to be ahead 10-7 and went on to the win. Unofficially it was Caleb Kueber leading the offense with a hat trick and 1 assist. Ben Preston and Gerrett Wicks ach chipped in a pair of goals with singles coming from Dawson Gordon, Jackson Boyd, Brian Robb, Jake Campbell, Josh Wilson and Thomas Vaesen who added 3 assists. Spencer Erwin went the distance to pick up the win in goal.
In the evening matchup it was the New Westminster Salmonbellies holding on to hand the Jr. Shamrocks their third home loss, by a score of 13-10. The game was close throughout but New West’s power play came up strong and the Rocks were unable to recover. Braylon Lumb led Victoria’s offense with the hat trick while Brad McCulley chipped in 2 goals and 2 assists and team captain Matthew Hamilton had a pair of goals and 1 helper. Singles came from Eddie Smith, Daniel Smith, Nate Wade and Dallas Wade.
Both teams are in action at the Q Centre next Saturday, May 21. The Intermediates will meet the Richmond Roadrunners while the Jr. Shamrocks will take on the Langley Thunder. Game times are 1:30 and 5:00 pm
