Eves of Destruction Host A Double Header This Weekend

Eves host double header featuring home teams Belles of the Brawl and The Hard Cores

Victoria B.C.: Greater Victoria derby fans will be treated to two bouts Saturday May 21st, showcasing the Eves of Destruction’s Belles of the Brawl and The Hard Cores.

The headlining match features last season’s Calamity Cup champions The Belles of the Brawl against Brick House Brawl Stars, a team comprised of players from Comox Valley’s Brick House Betties and Powell River’s Pow! Town Roller Derby. This game marks the return of Belles’ veteran skater Slaya Patra who is in her 8th season of roller derby.

Prior to the Belles’ bout, the home team Hard Cores take to the track against The Committed from Saltspring Island. The Hard Cores are undefeated so far this season.

First whistle is at 5:30 at the Archie Browning Arena. Local radio personality Pol Plastino—or “Brawl Plastino” as he is known by the Eves — from the Zone 91.3 will be blowing the first whistle.

Following the success of the “Human Hungry Hippo” contest at the last home game, fans will be treated to an equally hilarious half time contest during the second bout. Fans are also encouraged to come hungry as the Grilled to the Mac food truck will be on site selling gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and mac and cheese. As always, the event also features a Beer Garden, 50/50 and the official after party at Logan’s Pub.

Doors open at 5 pm, seats are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online, or at Logan’s Pub, Hive Hair and The Esquimalt Recreation Centre.

The Eves of Destruction Roller Derby League was formed in 2006, and has over 80 skaters, officials and volunteers, and features five teams. EOD’s A-Team, The Belles of the Brawl, The Margarita Villains and The Hard Cores. The league also has a gender inclusive Junior team, The Rotten Apples, made up of players aged 10-18.
