Rhys Duch has been signed for the 2016 WLA season

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks are very pleased to announce that Rhys Duch has been signed for the 2016 WLA season. Duch, a Victoria native, is a proven, elite scorer, and he will once again be a key component of the Shamrocks potent offensive attack. He will be reunited with teammate Corey Small and together they form a lethal combination having finished first and second in league scoring in each of the last two seasons. In seven seasons with the Shamrocks, he has scored 301 goals with 446 assists in 155 regular season and playoff games.  Duch is coming off a career year in the NLL where he finished fifth in league scoring with 111 points in just 18 games.

“I’m obviously excited to be back for another year,” said Duch. “We have a solid core group of guys and it’s a great opportunity for young players to come in and prove themselves.”

Corey Small Named Captain
In other Shamrocks news, Corey Small has been named team captain, replacing Scott Ranger who has decided to retire after leading the Shamrocks to the 2015 Mann Cup Championship. Small, 29, is heading into his seventh season with the team and has established himself as a superstar in the WLA and as a permanent resident of Victoria. In 2015, Small won the WLA scoring title and was named Mann Cup MVP.  Greg Harnett and Matt Yager have been named the team’s assistant captains.
