The Jr. Shamrocks’ next home game is next Saturday, May 28 when they will face the Burnaby Lakers
It was a mixed bag for the Intermediate and Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks Saturday at the Q Centre. The Intermediates hammered the visiting Richmond Roadrunners 19-7 in the afternoon contest. The result moves the Shamrocks to 7-1, good for 14 points and pending other weekend outcomes into a tie for first place. Pretty much everyone got onto the scoresheet and it was Darian Claxton going the distance in goal to pick up the win.
The evening match saw the Jr. Shamrocks drop their third straight game and drop to 2-5 on the season. They were defeated by the Langley Thunder 12-10, Langley’s first win of the season. It was a very even game, with both goaltenders playing well although Langley’s Intermediate ‘A’ call-up was the star of the game with 47 saves. Offense was spread around for the Shamrocks although Braylon Lumb did get the hat trick.
Both Shamrock teams are on the road Sunday and the Intermediates return to the Q Centre on Tuesday for a 7:00 encounter against their island rivals, the Nanaimo Timbermen. The Jr. Shamrocks’ next home game is next Saturday, May 28 when they will face the Burnaby Lakers.
