The Axemen begin training camp on September 9 in Wolfville
WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University and the men’s basketball head coach Kevin Duffie announced today the commitment of Nassau, Bahamas native, Trevon Grant.
Grant is a 6’ 1” combo guard transferring from Holland College. Grant played two seasons at Holland College where they won back-to-back ACAA championships and most recently finished third at the 2016 CCAA Nationals where he was named as a second team tournament All-Star.
Grant left his mark at Holland College being named the 2015-16 ACAA men’s basketball player of the year and first team All-Canadian in the CCAA. Grant was also honoured as the 2015-16 Holland College Male Athlete of the Year.
Grant brings a veteran and physical presence to the Axemen for the upcoming season. He has the ability to affect the game at both ends of the floor. He was third in scoring in the ACAA last year at 20.2 points per game and chipped in 8 rebounds and a league leading 3 steals per game.
“We are excited about the addition of Trevone to our roster. We believe he will impact our team immediately and has the physicality to defend guards in our league and he has the offensive skill set to add a scoring punch to our group”, said head coach Kevin Duffie.
“He is a quality individual that will bring experience and leadership to our locker room”, added Duffie.
When asked about his choice to come to Acadia, Grant replied, “My focus is to win right now and I felt like Acadia was the best fit because they have an established team and my hope is to add to what they already have on the roster and compete to win an AUS championship.”
Trevone will enter Acadia looking to complete a degree in Business Administration.
