Acadia Swimming announces commitments for fall of 2016
WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Acadia University and swimming head coach Gary MacDonald announced today the commitment by Bedford, N.S. native Brett Liem. The 6’3” sprint specialist currently swims for the Dartmouth Crusaders Swim Club and as of this summer, Liem has competed in five Age Group Nationals, a Senior Nationals and Olympics Trials.
In his past two Age Group Nationals, Liem has had top 5 finishes and multiple top 10 finishes. As a participant of the International Children’s Games, he has had two 4th place finishes.
“Brett signing is a huge boost for the Acadia Axemen and his ability and future is very bright as one of Eastern Canada’s top sprinters”, commented MacDonald.
“Our recruiting season has gone well and Brett will help lead the way as our men’s team grows”, MacDonald added.
The “soon to be” graduate of C.P. Allen High School in Bedford is excited about joining the Axemen swim team. “Acadia will be a great fit for me to pursue my academic and athletic goals”, noted Liem. “I am looking forward to a great small school experience where I will be studying physics and math.”
Other notable additions to the Axewomen and Axemen swim team roster include Aileen Feschuk (Halifax, N.S.) – breaststroke and individual medley; Nicole Windsor (Halifax, N.S.) – butterfly and middle distance free; Colin Reynolds (Brockville, Ont.) returning distance free and individual medly; Maddy Johnson (Calgary, Alta.) – sprint butterfly; Chris Johnson (Bridgewater, N.S.) – breaststroke and Justin Oyler (Bridgewater, N.S.) – sprint freestyle and butterfly.
