LANGLEY, British Columbia – The defending Canada West and CIS champion Trinity Western men’s volleyball team officially announced its 2016 regular season schedule Wednesday.

The Spartans will open their 24-match Canada West campaign on the road in Regina Oct. 28-29 before returning to Langley for their home-opener Nov. 4-5 against Calgary.

The weekend series with the Dinos is a rematch of last year’s Canada West quarter-finals that saw the Spartans rally from a one-match deficit to win the best-of-three series. The series win sparked what would turn into a seven-match winning streak in which TWU marched all the way to the national title.

In late November the Spartans will host a rare home-and-home series with UBC in which TWU will play on the Point Grey campus Friday at 1:30 p.m. before hosting UBC Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Spartans second half of the season is notably loaded with heavy hitters, as TWU will face four of last year’s top five regular season teams – including Saskatchewan, Alberta, Winnipeg and Manitoba – over the course of the winter semester.

TWU will take on conference rival Alberta in Edmonton Jan. 27-28 in a contest that is a rematch of last year’s Canada West and CIS semifinals. The Spartans beat the Bears in three sets to advance to the Canada West title match and then knocked off Alberta again at the national tournament, winning a five-setter to move on to the CIS gold medal game.

The final weekend of the regular season has TWU hosting Manitoba Feb. 24-25.

This year’s home schedule sees the Spartans hosting their home games one hour earlier, with first serve set for 7 p.m. on Fridays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Once again, this season you can see every men’s and women’s volleyball game live and on-demand by heading to Canadawest.tv – the official streaming home of Canada West. The 2016-17 Canadawest.tv passes will go on saleAugust 22, with early bird pricing available on both multi-sport and single sport passes until September 9.
