The Intermediates were hosting a U.S. Box Lacrosse team (Cali-Lax) in an exhibition match. It was the Americans’ last of a 5-trip through the league and the Intermediate Shamrocks handed them their 4th loss against a single win, by a score of 17-7. The US boys actually led 2-1 after the first but fatigue seemed to set in over the final 40 minutes as the Rocks led 10-6 after 2 and scored the first 6 goals of the final period before exchanging goals in the late going. The win doesn’t help in the standings but it will prepare them forgame on the mainland against the Maple Ridge Burrards as they battle for first place in the standings. Jake Campbell and Jackson Boyd each had the hat trick with Garrett Wicks, Brayden McQuarrie and Caleb Kueber each adding a pair, Kueber chipping in 4 helpers. The Intermediate Shamrocks finish the season at home next as they take on the Burnaby Lakers at the Q Centre.
The Jr. Shamrocks are still mathematically in the hunt for the fifth and final playoff spot in the BC Jr. A League and they came up with an 11-7 win over the visiting Burnaby Lakers. Victoria jumped out to a 6-0 lead but Burnaby battled back wo within 2 goals early in the third period before the Rocks pulled away. Colten led Victoria’s offense with the hat trick. Cole Pickup and Marshal King each had 2 goals and 3 assists. Nick Preston and Brad McCulley chipped in a goal and 3 helpers each. Dallas Wade and Zac Christianson had the other goals while Intermediate ‘A’ call-up Ben Preston had 3 assists. The Jr. Rocks finish the seasonon the road against Delta and will have to wait until late in the week to see if they have done enough to make playoffs.
