New Delhi, The 10th USHA DGC Juniors Golf Championship 2016 kicked off in full stride as Sunhit Bishnoi led the card after Day One with a score of three-under 69. Bishnoi’s feat, in the Category A Boys’ section, was made that much more creditable as the rain made the overhead and underfoot conditions equally tricky.
Bishnoi birdied three of the four par-five holes on the course – the 1st, 8th and 18th – as well as the par-four 13th and 16th holes. Had it not been for two bogeys, he’d have had a sensational card.
Bishnoi was followed by Daksh Shokeen with a par-72 card, while Karan Pratap Singh had a two-over 74 card, which put him in third place.
In Category B, Harshjeet Singh Sethie was on top of the pile with a three-over 75, followed by Raghav Chugh (76) and Eshan Sethi (78). Sethie had three birdies, but one double-bogey and five other bogeys dented his card badly.
This tournament, witnessing participation from a total of 95 junior golfers this time, is organised every year after the Usha Junior Training Programme of the Delhi Golf Club.
