Celebrities and pro golfers will team up on at the Oil Country Championship
(Edmonton, AB) – Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) has gained three new celebrities for its inaugural Celebrity Pro-Am, Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, newly acquired Oilers defenceman Adam Larsson and seven-time Canadian Long Drive Champ Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk have been added to its already star-studded celebrity lineup teeing off alongside Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada pros.
The Celebrity Pro-Am helps kick off the Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON to be played at Edmonton’s Glendale Golf and Country Club on.

The Mackenzie Tour pros golfing alongside the local celebrities will be announced closer to the event, making the Glendale Golf and Country Club, a 7,264-yard Norman Woods design an exciting spot for all the action on.
“The opportunity to work with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and help the community is an easy thing for my teammates and I to embrace,” said Oilers forward Jordan Eberle. “We’d love to see our fans come out and spend the day with us and of course, help us raise important funds for Fort McMurray.”
Following the Celebrity Pro-Am, 10 celebrities will be participating in the tournament’s Celebrity Horse Race – an exciting specialty event which will have 10 teams competing in a fun, crowd-pleasing alternate shot, elimination format that will provide loads of entertainment for all sport fans. Each team will consist of a celebrity and a Mackenzie Tour professional.
Both the Celebrity Pro-Am and Celebrity Horse Race, like the entire Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON, will be in support of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF), who will direct net proceeds to Some Other Solutions (SOS) for Crisis Prevention in Fort McMurray. SOS was significantly impacted by the wildfire and has not been in operation since May, making this funding even more important to their organization’s work in the Fort McMurray community.
SOS helps prevent, intervene and support individuals of all ages who are dealing with life challenges. Through counselling, child and youth programming and 24-hour crisis support, SOS will work to ensure the people of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo have the tools and resources to cope effectively with crisis.
The Oilers Foundation continues the Oilers legacy of giving back by contributing its resources and financial support to charitable organizations that serve the communities of Northern Alberta. With a focus on education, health and wellness for youth in Oil Country, the EOCF is dedicated to building strong, vibrant and safe communities by demonstrating philanthropic leadership.
