Intermediate Shamrocks Take Playoff Game 1

It wasn’t easy – in fact it took 10 minutes of overtime to resolve the issue but the Intermediate Shamrocks won game 1 of their best-of-3 series against the Delta Islanders at the Q Centre Friday by a 16-12 score.  Victoria had a 5-1 lead but saw that evaporate to 7-7 after 40 minutes and 12-12 after period 3, notching the only 4 goals in overtime, 3 of those shorthanded.

Unofficially, Nick Murray led the Shamrocks’ offense with 3 goals and 4 assists while Brian Robb had 4 goals and 2 assists for a 6-point night.  Ben Preston also chipped in a hat trick and 2 helpers.  Six other players had singles.  Caleb Kueber and Jackson Boyd didn’t find the back of the net but had four and three helpers respectively.

Game 2 in the series is at the Ladner Leisure Centre Sunday with game 3, if necessary, scheduled for 2:00 next Sunday, July 24 at the Panorama Leisure Centre.  The winner moves on to the Provincials in Langley over the August long weekend.
