(PGA of BC) – On a sunny day in Surrey, Morgan Creek Golf Course successfully defended the Champion title at the 2016 Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship presented by PING, this year on their home course.

The Morgan Creek Golf Course team consisting of Professional Ryan Worrall, and junior players Riley Janssen, Thomas Hazelden, and Bonnie Zhai, shot a team two net best-ball score of 126 (-18) to claim the Championship.
“Our team played great today, we had a ton of net birdies and really helped each other out,” said 13-year old Janssen.
“Today actually came out to be my best game of golf ever played,” added 15-year old Hazelden. “I really enjoyed who I was playing with and it was a great day.”
For their win, each amateur team member takes home a PING G30 Driver, valued at $549.99.
Professionals played for a purse of $3,250 split between the total number of birdies and eagles.

The PGA of BC Pro-Junior is named in memorial of the late Jack McLaughlin, a long-time member of the Association. During his career, McLaughlin was a tireless promoter of junior golf and an influencer of young, aspiring professionals. He worked as the Head Professional at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club from 1974 – 1991, and also held the position of President of both the PGA of Ontario and BC in 1963 and 1976, respectively. In 1984, McLaughlin was the Director of the PGA of Canada.
